Many League members were saddened to learn of Susan Mancuso’s passing after a long illness. Susan was an outstanding member of our board for several years, during which she served as board Secretary, and Program Chair and often invited members to her beautiful log home and garden. She and her husband were passionate about their garden and raised a wide variety of vegetables and flowers with special care for the Dahlias.
In her role as Program Chair, Susan was dedicated to developing high-quality educational programs for our members and the public. She stressed the importance of carefully gathering information, presenting an engaging program, and leading discussions in a variety of ways so that our programs appealed to the diverse learning styles of our audience.
Susan played an important role in our local study of Women’s Economic Security, guiding us every step of the way to conduct the research, organize a public presentation, and facilitate the consensus process for updating our policy positions. She then partnered with Kay Ingram, to establish and lead the Racial Equity/Healthy Democracy team.
Susan was sorely missed during her extended illness, and we are grateful for her generous contribution to the Bellingham/Whatcom County League.
