Election Processes

Ballots for the Feb. 13 special election will be mailed January 24, and processing will begin as soon as ballots arrive in the office.

The Whatcom County Auditor will be conducting its logic and accuracy test of the accessible voting units on Thursday, January 18 at 8:30 am and its logic and accuracy test of the tabulation equipment on Thursday, January 25 at 10:00 am. The tests will be conducted in the Election Center located in suite B03 of the county courthouse at 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98225.

Additional events will occur following the election, such as the manual hand count (audit) and the Risk Limiting Audit.


Election observers have the opportunity to view:  
  1. Sorting returned ballot envelopes
  2. Scanning ballot envelopes
  3. Signature verification
  4. Opening & reviewing ballots
  5. Scanning ballots
  6. Adjudicating
