A Giant Push Gets Out the Vote in November

Cam Kerst | Published on 11/11/2023
A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped with Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts this year. It’s hard to say exactly how many hundreds of people we connected with during the 40+ events we hosted or attended this election year: registering, updating addresses, and providing information about the November 7 election. Our outreach included food banks, libraries, healthcare facilities, Senior Care facilities, Senior centers, libraries, high Schools, WWU, WCC, BTC and community events like the June BIPOC event, SeaFeast, Birchwood International Market, and the Sunnyland Stump. The LWV volunteers truly make a difference in the Whatcom County elections outcomes. Thank you very much.

We have finished our tabling events for 2023. We were on Western’s campus right up to election day answering questions to help ensure students received their ballot and are able to vote by November 7.

All of the GOTV events that LWV hosts or tables at are only possible every year because of the number of volunteers who help when asked. However, there’s always room for new volunteers. Our focus is to help make the voting process easy, accessible and inclusive for everyone over 18.  We believe “EVERY VOTE COUNTS.”

I am personally very thankful for the dedicated GOTV Team I work with, who meet monthly to help arrange events, translate materials, and are the inspiration for GOTV. Thank you Annette Holcomb, Barbara Sardarov, Betty Barats, Candice Ambrosio, Debbi Barnes-Josiah, Jamie Donaldson, Eileen McCracken, Jean Scribner, Joy Monjure, MInda Rae Amiran, Paula Rotondi, Sue Cole, and Sue Wright.
