Help Get Out the Vote (GOTV)
Published on 5/12/2023
Our Get Out the Vote Team (GOTV) is looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers to register voters and help them understand the voting process from registration to putting ballots in the drop box. It’s rewarding work, and we have many volunteer opportunities—you might choose to work with young voters or other populations needing outreach:
Western Washington University
Register students at the Fall beginning of the school year on the Western Washington University campus and at off-campus housing complexes. Additional registration events run throughout the year on the WWU campus.
Whatcom Community College
Registration events at Whatcom Community College will include back-to-school day, WCC’s annual Students Leading Change Conference, Orca Day, and National Voter Registration Day.
Bellingham Technical College
Volunteers are needed at the beginning of the Bellingham Technical College school year and during the second semester to register students.
High Schools in Whatcom County
We will be doing two or three registration events at each of the High Schools in Whatcom County throughout the school year.
Students aren’t the only ones needing GOTV outreach
From June through October, our registration activities go to food banks, rental management companies, senior centers, long term care facilities, Budfest, libraries, health facilities, Juneteenth events, and other community events.
And don’t forget
National Voter Registration Day
—this is a single day in September and we always need volunteers to help distribute materials and to staff our registration tables in Whatcom County and Bellingham.
If you have indicated interest in participating in these types of volunteer events in the past, you are already on our GOTV volunteer list and will continue to get emails about these GOTV activities. If you would like to be involved in any of the above activities or added to the email list, contact Cam Kerst at
