League Tackles the Decline of Local News

A panel of local journalists discussed the news business in Whatcom County at a member meeting on Jan. 28, 2023. To view the program, click here. The panelists were:

Mike Lewis, President & Publisher of the family owned Lynden Tribune, that produces print & online issues.
Amy Nelson, Founder and Executive Director of the Salish Current, a non-partisan, non-profit online newspaper.
Robert Mittendorf, experienced journalist who covers civic issues for the Bellingham Herald. (The Bellingham Herald is part of McClatchy News and is owned by Chatham Asset Management.)

The presentation will be followed on Feb. 25 with a member meeting to come to consensus on a number of questions raised by the Washington State League's study, The Decline of Local News.
