LWV Book Group
Published on 9/10/2024
Our LWVBWC book group will meet on Wednesday, September 25 to discuss Fever in the Heartland: The Ku Klux Klan’s Plot to Take Over America, by Seattle writer, Timothy Egan.
Xenophobia, anti-semitism, and racism fueled a phenomenal growth in the Ku Klux Klan throughout the nation in the early 1920’s. Seemingly rational and ordinary residents of Indiana and other parts of the Midwest were eager to follow the leadership of a horrible, duplicitous man and they thought they were being patriotic and protecting their community. This nonfiction narrative is set in a perilous time exactly 100 years ago, but some of its themes resonate with our current political condition.
Our book group meets on the last Wednesday in alternate months; all members are welcome to join the discussion.
Meeting Details are available on our website here.
