In September the book group will read all about the decline of the internet as detailed by Cory Doctorow.  Enshitification - a real word coined by the author - is also known as platform decay. The book title is a catchy one and selected to pique your interest in the topic. 

Platform decay is a process in which two-sided online products and services decline in quality over time. Initially, vendors create high-quality offerings to attract users. Over time, they degrade those offerings to better serve business customers. Ultimately, they degrade their services to both users and business customers to maximize short-term profits for the shareholders.

Our League facilitator gave it a very favorable report and the group selected the topic for September. Author Cory Doctorow has written science fiction and reports about the internet in the press. Reading the book may make you a more discriminating user of electronic apps. Read more here
