Yes, We are Still Nonpartisan When We Rally and Protest

LWV of Washington recently published a statement that explains how protesting is compatible with nonpartisanship, and in fact, "The League cannot stand by silently while we watch the executive branch ignore not only tradition and protocol, but, more signficantly, legislative and constitutional law..."  Now is the time to stand up!

Poison Plastic Must Be Reduced

We
Since our climate team began studying the dangers of plastic to our heath, the LWVBWC has hosted several programs to educate the public.

We have established a Working Group to investigate solutions to the problem and are excited to convene a meeting in late April to begin our work together. We look forward to sharing as our work progresses!

Washington State Attorney General Opposes Administration Actions

Continuing the actions of his predecessor, Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown has taken swift action in response to Presidential Executive Orders that undermine the constitutional separation of powers and attack democratic institutions.

Learn more about these actions and how they align with the positions of the League of Women Voters.

Save the Date!

LWVBWC’s annual meeting is scheduled for Saturday morning, June 28.  Guest speaker will be Dr. Peter Pihos, a WWU history professor who will talk about how America has survived troubled times before.   Yes, we are facing challenges to our very democracy.  Can our history give us hope?

Shout Out to our Volunteers!

Many thanks to our communications volunteers! In addition to the Voter editors Becca Verda and Theresa Kingma, volunteer Jill Bork has been creating the event posts and email announcements on our website.

Our contract communications specialist Carolyn Stewart goes above and beyond in keeping our social media presence fresh.
And our communications coordinator Robin Barker keeps the website up-to-date.

Jill’s life has gotten busier so we’re looking for someone new to help post events, and a writing team is being assembled to provide more content.  The League does great things–we want the community to know about them!

Contact communications@lwvbellinghamwhatcom.org if you'd like to help.
