Take Action! But How?

Protest

Protests are happening more and more often against the policies implemented by the current administration.  So far there doesn’t seem to be a single source of information about demonstrations or boycotts in Bellingham, but League members want to stand up for democracy.

Join our League’s Advocacy discussion forum and share what you know about events in the community.

Welcoming Immigrants to Washington State Study

We've learned the piecemeal approach to meeting the needs of immigrants through the LWVWA's Welcoming Immigrants study.

If you would be interested in learning more about how we welcome immigrants in our community and working towards being more welcoming, join us for coffee on Friday 3/21 at 10 am at the downtown Community Food Co-op.

Grab a cup of coffee and join us upstairs!

 Immigration in Whatcom County

We are very pleased that many of our members participated in the immigration consensus meeting on March 1. Results of our local consensus will be shared with you soon.

Our next meeting will be March 17 with Nancy Simmons, Director of VSED Northwest. Join us to discuss end of live choices.

Can the President Do That?

Can the president do that

Keep up With The Charter Review Commission

In February, the Charter Review Commission voted to reduce the required number of signatures to put a Charter amendment on the ballot.

Get Out The Vote

Good and Bad News from our Public Schools

Don't miss the update from our panel on civics education at the League's February meeting.

We were encouraged by hearing how our schools are educating students about democratic government, but access to funding and resources are critical to including critical civics education in our schools.
