Save The Date: Conversations With Elected Officials

Save the Date for FUN December 11!

From the President: Our Mission to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy

What a lot of emotions we all have after the election. But let’s remember that we are a non-partisan grassroots organization that deeply values our shared mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy.

And WE DID. Someone voted because of YOU. With the election over know that we will continue to pursue our mission of defending democracy.

Short Takes On Civics Education

Bridging the Political Divide in Whatcom County

What if we could reverse the trend to more polarization with voting? Many analysts point to our winner-take-all voting methods as fertile ground for divisiveness.

This program proposes a shift to a proportional voting method for Whatcom County. Robin Ye of the Portland Charter Review Commission will discuss why Portland, OR changed to a proportional voting method and how it worked.

LWVWC Needs a Candidate Forum Co-leader

Are you looking for a way to get more involved with the League? Our candidate forums are an important part of carrying out our mission of empowering voters, and we need a co-leader to help execute our candidate events.

This is a great chance to contribute to our mission and make sure voters have good information during elections.

LWVWC Needs New Storage Space

After many generous years,  Hotel Leo has asked us to vacate our basement storage.  So, we are looking for somewhere to store some things including hospitality items, sandwich boards and voter registration items, some curriculum, etc. Do you have room? Know of a sympathetic business or building owner?  Please let me know!
