Some of you may not be aware that League membership is open to anyone at least 16 years of age. Our new president, Donna Meehan, encouraged her 17-year-old granddaughter to join our League. She is now a member and intends to include membership in the League of Women Voters on her college applications. She attended a voter registration training with her grandmother and, although she's found it challenging to fit it into her busy schedule, she will soon be volunteering to register voters.
Joy Monjure will be working with the Civics Education Team to develop League programs and activities that target students and young adults. If you have a child or grandchild, (boy or girl at least 16), they may be interested in learning more about how democracy works at the local, state and national levels. The goal will be to foster informed and politically active adults.
Note: New members can choose their own dues amount, starting as low as $20.
