The League of Women Voters of Washington plans to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary with a statewide book club featuring live-streamed discussions with authors, titled "Conversations on Democracy: A Reading Initiative."

The first book club meeting will include guest author Heather Cox Richardson.  Richardson is an American historian who is a professor at Boston College.  She has written seven books and in 2019 she started publishing Letters from an American, a nightly newsletter that chronicles current events in the larger context of American history.  As of last July, the newsletter had over 2.6 million subscribers.

We will be discussing her book How the South Won the Civil War: Oligarchy, Democracy, and the Continuing Fight for the Soul of America. The Zoom webinar will be on July 29th at noon.  You can register here.
