Since last March we have had the pleasure of welcoming 108 new members to our League. What an honor to welcome each of you!
You are now connected to over 800 state and local Leagues. As a nonpartisan, grassroots organization, we protect and expand voting rights, ensuring everyone is represented in democracy through voter empowerment, education, advocacy, and litigation. For over a century, The League has encouraged active democratic participation and strives for a government where all Americans are equally represented.
We envision a democracy where all Americans, regardless of gender, race, ability, or party can see themselves represented in our government. You are now part of this vision. With your membership, you gain entitled rights and countless opportunities.
Here’s a look at Your Rights:
1. You are automatically a member of our local and state Leagues and LWVUS.
2. You can join any local League you choose. However, an individual may be a voting member of only one local League and its related state League.
3. You may participate in LWV-sponsored events and activities, including access to members-only opportunities.
4. You can participate in our local League’s annual meetings and our state and national LWV conventions according to the bylaws of our local and state Leagues and LWVUS.
5. You elect our local, state, and national leaders according to the respective local and state Leagues’ bylaws and the LWVUS Bylaws.
6. You are eligible to run for LWVUS leadership positions and leadership positions in our local and state League according to the respective bylaws.
7. You are entitled to full participation in LWV without barriers as stated in the local, state, or national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policies.
