Undersheriff Steve Harris, Bellingham Police Chief Rebecca Mertzig, Blaine Police Chief Roger Funk and WWU Chief of Police Katy Potts joined us for an hour and a half to answer our questions about their work in our community.
The Racial Equity/Healthy Democracy team spent many hours coming up with six questions ranging from their oaths of office, implicit bias training and diversity, equity and inclusion along with other issues. In addition there were audience questions. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the information program.
I hope that many members of our community who couldn’t attend will watch the recording and reach out to the RE/HD team with their thoughts about the interactions and ideas for deepening our relationships with local law officials in Whatcom County.
