Ballots are Coming! Watch Interviews of Primary Candidates

Are there candidates on the primary ballot that you’ve never heard of? Learn more about the candidates by watching short interviews conducted by the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County. In under 10 minutes each candidate is asked the same three questions, and the recordings have been posted on our website.

“The League of Women Voters has a long history of conducting nonpartisan candidate forums or debates,” said Eileen McCracken, President of the LWVBWC.  “We aim to provide voters with unbiased information that they can use to distinguish between candidates and make informed decisions.”

This year the Bellingham/Whatcom League decided to try something different. Volunteers wanted to make it easier for voters to quickly get more information about primary election candidates they aren’t familiar with. The races include eight candidates for the 2nd Congressional District, three candidates for the 42nd Legislative District Position 1, and three candidates for the Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County District 2 Commissioner.

Ballots will be mailed to voters on July 17. Completed ballots must be dropped off in one of the County’s ballot drop boxes by 8:00pm, August 6, or put in the mail (postage free) a few days prior to the election to ensure they’re postmarked by August 6.
