Learn about the Candidates - LWV Election Forums

The General election approaches, and it has been refreshing for local voters and candidates to meet and mingle a bit after the last two years. Soon it will be time to make voting decisions. Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters on October 19, 2022.

To help voters gather information to inform their decisions about candidates, the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County will be holding our candidate forums via Zoom. You can access these events on your phone or computer. The schedule is as follows: 

Friday September 30
5:00 pm Public Utility District #1 Commissioner
6:15 pm Whatcom County District Court Judge (Co-sponsored with Associated Students of Whatcom Community College)

Friday October 7  
6:00 pm U.S. Congressional District 2 Representative (Co-sponsored with LWV San Juan County, LWV Skagit County, LWV Snohomish County, & LWV Whidbey Island)

Wednesday October 12
5:00 pm 42nd Legislative District Senator
6:15 pm 40th Legislative District Representative 2 (Co-sponsored with LWV Skagit County & LWV San Juan County)

Friday October 14
5:00 pm 42nd Legislative District Representative 1
6:15 pm 42nd Legislative District Representative 2

Tuesday October 18 
6:00 pm Whatcom County Proposition 5, Healthy Children's Fund

The schedule with links for the forums, as well as other options for access, can be found at the League of Women Voters website. You can also access our online issues and questions form to submit your questions for the candidates. 

Recordings will be available on demand on our website and on the City of Bellingham YouTube channel. Forums also will be re-broadcast on cable access and local radio throughout the weeks leading up to election day, November 8, 2022.

Cascadia Daily News, Lynden Tribune, Salish-Current, The Northern Light, and 102.3 KMRE community radio are media partners of the event. Voter Registration: Voters can update their voter registration address through October 31, 2022 at VoteWA.gov. New registrations are also accepted using this website, if you have a WA State ID or WA State Driver License. From November 1 until 8:00 pm on election day, one can register in person at the Whatcom County Auditor’s office at the County Courthouse, 311 Grand St, Bellingham.
