On December 11th, the Squalicum Boathouse was filled with laughter and deep conversations as our League welcomed many local elected officials for a social gathering. In every corner we could see our elected officials engaged in unfiltered conversations with our members.
Our honored guests included the County Executive and Mayors of several cities, the Sheriff, Prosecutor, Auditor, Council members, Judges, officials from the Port and the PUD, school boards and the recently elected Charter Review Commission.
This event has become a nearly annual occasion to celebrate our representatives and to thank them for their service to the community. We were delighted that so many members and officials were in attendance. The event was lively and there was obvious deep pleasure at the opportunities presented by this evening as we gathered in celebration of our local government and democracy.
Members old and new had a special chance to connect with each other and to share their ideas about the League and community.
Thank you to the organizing committee of Mira Kamada, Laurie Hoyt, Annette Holcomb and Jill Bernstein who helped to plan the event and to the LWVBWC Board for their support. Thanks also to Michael Waite and Rob Hoyt for their work serving beverages to the crowd and to the many members who decorated the room, provided appetizers, helped to set up and clean up the venue and assisted in ways large and small to make this a very successful event.
Don't miss these photos of the fun!
